OVERVIEW |
| Established in 1985, the New Orleans Center for Clinical Research (NOCCR) is an independent, physician owned, clinical research site conducting clinical trials in a broad array of medical specialties for the pharmaceutical, biotechnical, and medical device industries. NOCCR is committed to excellence in the care of volunteers participating in pharmaceutical sponsored clinical research trials.
With a 50-bed Phase I unit and dedicated inpatient and outpatient staff, NOCCR has conducted over 1,000 Phase I, II, III, and IV clinical trials. While best known for our expertise and specialization in cardiovascular, renal impairment, and in-patient special population studies, NOCCR has also conducted clinical trials in many other therapeutic areas, including: |

FACTS |
- 8,500 square foot outpatient facility centrally located for Phase II-IV studies
- 16,000 square foot inpatient/PK unit with semi-private rooms with telephones and TV's in each room, located in uptown New Orleans near the Tulane and Loyola campuses, for Phase I, II and special population studies
- On-site CLIA certified lab capable of electronic transfer of lab data
- On-site reproductive lab with sperm analysis
- Secure drug rooms at both locations

William B. Smith, MD, FACC - President Dr. Smith is board certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Cardiology and Critical Care and has participated as Principal Investigator in over 500 multi-therapeutic clinical trials.
Richard L. Gibson, MD - Medical Director, Inpatient Unit Dr. Gibson is sub boarded in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry and Masters in Public Health & Tropical Medicine.
Elvia Haynes, MD, CCRC Dr. Haynes is a foreign medical graduate and is the director of the inpatient unit.
Glenn Johnson, MD, FACC Dr. Johnson is boarded in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
Arnold Alper, MD Dr. Alper is a general internal medicine specialist with 40 years of clinical experience.
Richard Mautner, MD, FACC Dr. Mautner is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. |

NOCCR has a large and diverse volunteer population and maintains a computerized database for rapid identification of potential study participants. Currently, NOCCR has large populations in the areas of:
- Healthy normal (male and female, African American and Caucasian)
- Elderly males and females
- Post-menopausal females (on and off of HRT)
- Varying degrees of renal insufficiency (including dialysis patients)
- Liver failure (Childs-Pugh A and B)
- Heart failure
- Hypertension
- Diabetes

- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
